Principal and Vice-Principal Positions

The Call to Lead...

The Leadership Identification Program (LIP) is our Board's annual invitation to individuals who want to pursue educational leadership opportunities, as our future Principals and Vice-Principals.

We are always looking for energetic, elementary and secondary Catholic educators with a strong commitment to the development of Catholic schools that make a difference.

Qualifications for Leadership Positions

Vice-Principal

  • A minimum of five years teaching experience preferably in two or more divisions

Principal

  • A minimum of five years teaching experience preferably in two or more divisions
  • Three years experience as a vice-principal, is preferred for candidates who are internal to the Board
  • Three years experience as a vice-principal or principal, is preferred for candidates who are external to the Board

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to articulate and demonstrate our Catholic faith vision for our schools
  • Commitment to uphold and promote a demonstrated Catholic philosophy within the school environment and/or in the community-at-large
  • A member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Completion of Principal’s Course, Parts I & II or anticipated completion by September 1st of the current school year
  • Completion of Religious Education Part I & Part II (for vice-principal)
  • Completion of Religious Education Part I & Part II and Religious Education Specialist (for principal)
  • Special Education qualification preferred for both principal and vice principal candidates
  • Experience in both school and board-wide activities. Leadership experience within the school community and/or the community-at-large
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they would create a Catholic community through their exercise of leadership

Sessions are held annually to provide information to interested candidates on the LIP self-selection, application and assessment process, and also to provide an opportunity to learn about the role of the principal/vice-principal and Catholic leadership within the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board.
