JERSEY DAY FOR THE HUMBOLDT BRONCOS - THURSDAY APRIL 12
Published on Apr 10, 2018 12:34

Good afternoon HFA Families.

In light of the recent tragedy in Saskatchewan, Holy Family will join schools around the country in their show of support by once again wearing their jerseys or yellow and green this Thursday, April 12. This morning, the following prayer and announcement were shared with the school community.

Last Friday, fifteen players and staff of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team from Saskatchewan were killed in a tragic bus accident. This tragedy has resonated across Canada and around the world. Families and community members have been offering their prayers and loving support to all those affected by this incomprehensible loss. Today, you will notice that the flag at Holy Family, and flags around our community and across our country, have been lowered to half mast today to acknowledge this tremendous loss.  This morning we offer this prayer for all of those affected by this tragedy:

God of love, consoler of the sorrowful, we come before you today, broken-hearted over this tremendous loss. Every single one of those who perished in this accident was one of your precious children, and they were bound together by the bonds of friendship and team spirit. We pray today that you might welcome them to the glory of your kingdom, and that you would grant strength and comfort to their families, loved ones and communities. Pour out your healing power on those who are still in hospital, and on all those who have been shaken and grieved by this sudden, tragic loss. We know that, by your rising from the dead, you have defeated the power of death forever. Bring your light to this time of darkness, confusion and pain, for you are the Resurrection and the Life, and you live and reign with your Father and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever.

Every single one of those who perished in this accident was one of your precious children,?and they were bound together by bonds of friendship and team spirit.
We pray today that you might welcome them to the glory of your kingdom,?and that you would grant strength and comfort to their families, loved ones and communities.?Pour out your healing power on those who are still in hospital,?and on all those who have been shaken and grieved by this sudden, tragic loss.
We know that, by your rising from the dead, you have defeated the power of death forever.?Bring your light to this time of darkness, confusion and pain,?for you are the Resurrection and the Life, and you live and reign with your Father and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever.

Amen.
