FLAG AT HALF MAST
Published on May 7, 2019 12:05

Dear Families,

It was deeply saddening to wake up this morning to the news that Jean Vanier, the founder of the L'Arche communities worldwide, and the namesake of one of our schools, died overnight at the age of 90.

The flag at Holy Family will be flown at half mast until Friday, as we pay tribute to the tremendous gifts of Jean Vanier to humanity. He was a giant in terms of the impact of his vision of radical inclusion and welcome, and we are proud to say that he was a Canadian. We are honoured that the name of such a great Canadian Christian graces one of our high schools, and we will strive to continue his vision in what we say and do in our school settings. Please pray for the many people around the world who are mourning Jean's death, and may he continue to inspire us.
