                               Summer Prayer

Lord God, We put ourselves into Your hands, and pray that You will bless us and our families during the wonderful months of summer. May we all help make our home a place of relaxation, joy, love, peace and safety. May we be generous and considerate, not thinking only about ourselves, but helping others enjoy the blessings of summertime. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

                                   Farewells

It is that time of the year again where we have to say farewell to those staff that will be leaving our Holy Family School community.

Thank you to Mrs. Ellison, Mrs. Hesketh, Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Schraa-Tam, for their dedication and commitment to Holy Family. Their Long Term Occasional assignment ended on the last day of school. Good luck and God Bless.

Good luck to Ms. Swaile who will be moving to Our Lady of Grace in Angus and to Ms. Whalen who will be moving to St. Francis of Assisi in Barrie in September.
May God bless you both.

Thank you to Mrs. Robert for her commitment and dedication to Holy Family School she will be moving to St. Michael the Archangel in Barrie as Vice-Principal in September.   Best of luck at your new school and God bless.

And we say goodbye to Mrs. Hardy, who, after 26 years at Holy Family, will be retiring this year. We thank her for her devotion, commitment and her years of service to our community.

    Catholic School Community Council

On behalf of the Holy Family Catholic School Community Council (HFCSCC), I would like to thank parents & staff for their generous support of the Council’s activities.

We started the school year off with our
School Info Fair in coordination with the September meet the teacher night.  This night was an opportunity for in-school activities to be showcased including: Eat Well to Excel, Chrome Book demonstrations, Spirit Wear, Eco Club and our School Council as well as an opportunity to meet Holy Family families.

We are pleased to offer 3 days per week of hot lunch and a choice of 5 days per week for Milk ordering.  Hot lunch would not be possible without the commitment of many parent & student volunteers.  We are thankful for our SOLO lunch partnership.  The transition to online payment through SOLO proved successful and significantly reduced our volunteer hours.

Last fall we hosted our second Fresh From the Farm Fundraiser which continues to be a success.  With your support Holy Family sold Ontario apples and carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes and onions. Watch for this healthy fundraiser to return in the Fall.

This year we hosted Holy Family’s annual Spring Fling and raised over $6,800.  Thank you for sending in items for the silent auction baskets and thank you to the volunteers who creatively wrapped the baskets.  Thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring Fling success by selling raffle tickets, supporting the silent auction, volunteering and attending the event.  This year’s fundraising proceeds will go towards: new sports teams uniforms, technology following our school’s technology plan and a second water bottle fountain filling station which will be placed outside of the office near the gym.

HFCSCC provided sponsorship to bring professional DJ to the Student Connection’s fundraising winter dance-a-thon which got students from JK through to Grade 8 dancing for a great cause.  HFCSCC also supported Le Festival du Voyageur, a unique French cultural event for Grade 4 and 5 students. We were pleased to purchase the new sensory path that is located at the front of the school. It is wonderful to see so many students and teachers hopping along the path every day.
Thanks to the support of parent & student volunteers, HFCSCC was able to increase their financial sponsorship to the Grade 7 trip to Niagara Falls, and the Grade 8 trip to Muskoka Woods and their year-end Toronto trip through our Wednesday Pizza Day sales.

Grade 8 graduates
are provided a cross on behalf of the Council annually.  We are pleased to provide pizza at the graduation social for the graduates.

Once again, thank you for making Holy Family the great school and community that it is.  Please contact the school office to get involved.

Have a wonderful summer!

Grade 6 and 8 Trips in the Fall

Details of the Grade 6 trip and the Grade 8 trip to Muskoka Woods will be provided in September.

          Student Placements for September 2019

On the first day of school all students will return to the same line-up, and same classes and as this school year. The same teacher that they enjoyed this past school year will greet them. Each teacher will then bring their former class into the school and students will be placed in their new classes, with their new teacher, throughout the morning. Parents are asked to wait to hear from their child(ren) about their classroom placements at the end of the day.  All current JK/SK Kindergartens—those going into SK and grade 1--will return to their previous line-up area, and therefore need to be dropped off in the fenced-in Kindergarten area. Thank you for your understanding.

        First Day of School 2019/2020

First day of school for the 2019/2020 School year is Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Senior Kindergarten to Grade 8 students will begin on the Tuesday. Our Junior Kindergarten students will have staggered entry, details of interviews and start date will be sent out in July.

Wishing everyone a Happy and Blessed Summer Vacation!
