Supporting Catholic Education Today
Catholic education is a wonderful tradition that dates back more than 160 years in Ontario. As part of Ontario's publicly funded education system, Catholic schools offer faith-filled learning to approximately one third of the students in the province.
Now more than ever, it is essential that we work together to make a meaningful commitment to Catholic education. One of the most important ways to do this is by directing your tax support on your municipal tax assessment form to the separate school board. By doing this you will be sending a powerful message to the provincial government and the broader community about the importance and need for a Catholic school system.
Why is declaring yourself a Catholic school supporter so important?
- You help determine the number of Catholic trustees that can be elected to the board, which ensures your right to vote for a Simcoe Muskoka Catholic School Board trustee during municipal elections.
- School support is an indicator the government uses to determine overall support for and strength of a publicly funded Catholic school system.
- It supports our Board's enrollment projections, which affects funding for new schools.
